Empowering Lives, Strengthening Families and Building a Safer Community

A Warm Welcome: Our Mission and Vision

Welcome to the Thompson Crisis Centre (TCC) Newsletter! We are dedicated to providing help and support to those in need. Our mission is to empower lives, strengthen families, and build a safer community for all. Join us as we share our recent achievements, upcoming events, and inspiring stories.

Understanding Our Mandate: Admission Criteria Explained

At TCC, we extend our services to those experiencing:

Domestic Violence involving intimate partners, e.g., spouses, common-law partners, or dating relationships, including LGBTQ couples.

Family Violence perpetrated by a family member, e.g., parents, grandparents, adult children, siblings, and so on.Sexual abuse by a known or unknown assailant.

Our 48-hour safety rule ensures that callers have immediate access to the Centre for evaluation. Our staff’s primary focus is safety, and for clients who do not meet the criteria, we provide referrals to guarantee the appropriate assistance.

A Look Back: Recent Events & Achievements

We have embraced the new fiscal year with vigor despite the ongoing COVID-19 situation. In February, we held a successful Family Poster Contest, replacing our annual family event, with winners awarded $500 prizes.

Investing in Our Team: Upcoming Staff Training

Our staff recently completed the Mental Health First Aid training, a vital tool for supporting individuals facing mental health challenges. We highly recommend this course for other organizations. This May, we are excited to further invest in our team with training sessions focused on enhancing counseling, communication skills, and conflict resolution.

Exciting News: Services at Full Capacity

We are delighted to announce that our services are now running at full capacity at the Centre. Our team remains dedicated to adapting to the challenges presented by COVID-19 while providing unwavering support to those in need.

Spotlight: The Joyful In-House Daycare for Residents

We take great pride in our In-House Daycare Centre, where our devoted daycare worker, RL, creates a nurturing and engaging environment for children. The Centre is thoughtfully divided into sections, each offering a variety of activities that children adore. The joyful atmosphere makes it difficult for some little ones to leave, reflecting the positive impact of our daycare services.
